Summer School of Arts and Sciences for Sustainability in Social Transformation

Some notes on the logistics for the Summer School in Gabrovo, compiled by Nadezhda Savova (I3C):

ACCOMMODATION
The home of the Summer School will be the classical old-time central
hotel in Gabrovo called Hotel Balkan (the name of the mountain where
the city lies). Here is the hotel website:
http://hotelbalkan-gabrovo.com/component/option,com_datsogallery/It...
for more pictures. Our accommodation at the hotel is covered by the
Municipality of Gabrovo who warmly greet us as their international
guests!

Hotel Balkan is in the city center, very close to the bus station where we all will be arriving from Sofia. The address of the hotel is 14, Emmanuil Manolov str.

FOOD
The accommodation does not cover food, but food at the hotel and around
Gabrovo is extremely cheap (for a home-style, cooked three-course
lunch meal at the hotel you would pay around 2euro!). At the same
time, not having fixed meal times gives us a lot of flexibility with
the workshops and the meal preferences to suit each taste.

TRANSPORTATION
The Municipality of Gabrovo will secure a bus to take us to a special
and very interesting local open-air museum in Gabrovo. From Sofia to
Gabrovo and back each participant will cover his and her
transportation (by bus), which is a total of 20 euro round-trip and
with the taxis between the central bus station and the airport in
Sofia additional 15 (just in case), so about 35-40 euro for
transportation depending on the taxi. The schedule of the buses is
here - http://www.centralnaavtogara.bg/index.php?mod=06a943c59f33a34bb5924...
as you can see, they leave quite often the whole day long until 17:00).

VISA
Please, check as soon as you can whether you need a visa for Bulgaria
and contact immediately the Bulgarian embassy consular section in your
country to check exactly what documents they need from you as an
applicant - in particular, what invitation letter do they need us from
Bulgaria to send to the embassy (in what language and specifying what
details from your passport, period, place to stay, etc.)? I will send
the letter to each place individually, so just let me [i.e. Nadezhda] know
through an email.

For all logistics-related, and other questions about Gabrovo, please contact Nadezhda! Thank you.

Hi Fereshteh! The buses to Gabrovo depart from the central bus station in Gabrovo. The website of the central bus station appears in English language if you click a sort of button on the upper right corner (which, I guess, is labelled "English"... but in Bulgarian language! ;-)

I tried to translate the link for the busses, but I'm still not sure about the station to use for trips from Sofia to Gabrovo. Do they depart from the Central Bus Station, or from Sofia's Poduyane/East bus station?
